The Process of Getting a Chair

We want to make getting your power wheel chair easy. So, our process is as hassle-free for you as possible.  We eliminate the hassles of getting your insurance to cover your chair by doing all the tedious things for you. In fact, if you meet the prequalification requirements, the only thing you have to do is visit your doctor and choose the power chair that best fits your needs. It’s as easy as that!

Once we determine eligibility, we work with your physician to complete the required paperwork and gather all the necessary documentation to support a prescription for a power mobility device (power/electric wheelchair or scooter).  We also take care of ordering, delivering, installing and testing the power chair or scooter that best fits your needs.  All for free!

Let’s take a brief look at what the process of purchasing your power wheelchair or scooter entails. Please note that this is just an overview and more detailed information is available by contacting us. 

There are five stages involved:  Pre-qualification; Medical Evaluation; Choosing your Chair; Ordering and Delivery.

Pre-Qualification / Eligibility:

During Pre-qualification is when we make our first contact with you.  A brief phone interview will gather basic information and determine whether or not you meet the initial considerations that tend to show your medical need for a power wheel-chair. 

Once the likelihood of a medical need is established, we verify your current level of eligibility through your insurance provider.[*]  We then make sure that you are not subject to any disqualifying factors set forth by your insurance.

Upon eligibility verification, you will be partnered with a Case Management representative to guide you through the medical evaluation stage and discuss your options in selecting the appropriate power wheelchair to suit your needs.

Medical Evaluation:

For insurance coverage to apply to the purchase of your power wheel chair, you will need a prescription from your physician and documentation sufficient to show that the use of an electric wheelchair is medically necessary.

You make an appointment to see your physician for an examination specifically to evaluate your current mobility needs.  We take care of ensuring that the appropriate paperwork and documentation is supplied to your insurance provider.

Choosing Your Chair:

Here is the fun part! Now is when you decide on the mobility device you want. You’ll notice our selection is not only generous, but highly customizable to suit your unique needs and desires. As always, your case management agent will assist you with any questions you may have regarding any power chair or scooter we offer. And, if you’re not sure quite what you need, your case management agent will help you select an appropriate mobility solution to fit your mobility goals.

Ordering:

Once the paperwork is completed by your doctor and it meets your insurance guidelines, your chair will be ordered.  A member of our Delivery department will contact you to confirm your address and the chair that will be ordered for you.[†] 

Delivery:

A field technician will deliver your power wheelchair or scooter directly to you.  When he or she arrives, they will set-up your chair, show you how to use it, and make sure that it meets expectations for use in your home.

As you can see, we do the work for you.  Aside from meeting with your doctor and choosing your power chair, you can relax knowing you’re in good hands!
